   Ms. Sylvya Cordova is proud to be a lifelong resident of Pico Rivera and especially an El Rancho alumni.  She has been teaching for El Rancho USD for 24 years, as an ELD, Bilingual Language Arts Teacher, District Resource Teacher, and Trainer-of-Trainers for the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE).  She attended Durfee, Obregon, Rio Vista, Rivera Jr. high and graduated from El Rancho high school.  Working as an instructional aide at North Park Middle school, Ms. Cordova was inspired to become an English teacher by her mentor, Minerva Gandara.   She has a Bachelor's Degree in English, a Master's Degree in Education and Administrative Leadership, and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English, which includes a BCLAD (Bilingual Cross cultural Language Acquisition and Development) credential.  Ms. Cordova has presented at many conferences including; California Association of the Gifted (CAG), California Association of Secondary Bilingual Educators (CASBE), and served as a Committee member for the California Association of Bilingual Educators (CABE) Conference.

CELDT Testing

PARENTS-
Just a friendly reminder that English Learners will be tested in the state's CELDT test beginning Monday, October 12th.  Make sure if your child is in an ELD class that they have a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.  Testing will be on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Encourage your child to try their BEST on the state test.

Missing Assignments

A reminder that it is the responsibility of the student to request missing assignments or tests/quizzes.  I will be available after school on Tuesdays for any tests or quizzes you need to make up because of an absence.

On vacation in Yosemite National Forest holding up a GIANT tree!  If you ever want to visit the most AWESOME place in California, go to the Housekeeping Camp.  The Merced River runs through the campsite.
