Clarification of the Dress code regarding Sheer/See-Through Blouses

The following is a clarification of the dress code regarding the wear of Sheer/See-Through Blouses at RMS. While for many years the wear of sheer/see through blouses has been listed as a prohibited item, for some reason this was left off of the ERUSD district guidelines for dress and grooming.

There are many reasons for a dress code: most importantly, to minimize disruptions to class instruction. The school board established a ban on Sheer/See-through blouses many years ago. The intent being that a lack of modesty in dress is a direct disruption to the educational process. More specifically, at no time should undergarments be visible.

To meet the spirit of the board policy regarding Sheer/See-Through Blouses, the following is a clarification to the dress code:

Sheer/See-Through may be worn if the following criteria are met:
1. The blouse may not be a tank top, spaghetti straps, halter top or low cut top in style.
2. The blouse in question must not be so short that it by itself would expose a bare midriff if it was worn without an undershirt.
3. The blouse must be worn with an undershirt that meets the below criteria:
a. The undershirt must not be a tank top, spaghetti strap, halter top, low cut top or expose a bare midriff.
b. The undershirt may not have any prohibited printing, designs, or other unacceptable printing or pictures.
c. The undershirt may be of a sleeveless design as long as it does not violate a. or b. above and does not expose any underwear.
