Intro. to Art 2020-2021-Period 7 Assignments

Write me (Ms. Gomez) a letter about what your wish for the New Year is/would be. Explain why that is your wish. Tell me how you are going to help make your wish come true.
Include with your letter a picture of your wish.

Points:
Biography = 30pts
Art work = 20pts

- Create a beautiful piece of art using….YOUR OWN FEATURES!

- Using a mirror – sketch out your own portrait….from your shoulders up. Please be aware of the little details of all your features…including whatever you are wearing.

-You can use any type of white paper. For the coloring…..you can choose which type of material you would like to use.

-Work slowly…this assignment should take at least a week if it’s going to be presentable/quality work.

Draw and color a piece of art showing what or who you are thankful for. It can be more than one thing. It is not to be a simple drawing. You must include details and a background that goes with your drawing. Do not use any words....you are to use only pictures/drawings that show what or who you are thankful for.
Be creative. Be genuine....meaning...be real about what or who you are thankful for.

You will recreate one of the silhouette examples I posted. It should look like an EXACT recreation of the art.
You will need to use a blank sheet of white paper. You can use any type of white paper or canvas.
Make sure you are using the technique of silhouettes. Notice that the silhouette is all black and the background is all white.

When you send me your final silhouette, please send a picture of the original picture, too.

Veteran’s Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11. This day is for honoring military veterans, that is, persons who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Veteran’s Day originated as “Armistice Day” on November 11, 1919, which was the first anniversary of the end of World War I.
Veteran’s Day is different from Memorial Day. Veteran’s Day celebrates the service of all U. S. military veterans – living or dead, while Memorial Day honors those who had died while in military service.

Your assignment this week is to create a beautiful, heart-felt piece of art that shows your appreciation for our Veterans. You may refer to some Google images to get help with some "ideas" of what to create....but remember to make it your own.
Make sure you use the majority of the paper to show your art work. You know the expectations I have of all your work and how it should be completed.
You have been given plenty of time to complete this art project. It should look like it took you days to complete it and that A LOT OF EFFORT was put into creating your beautiful piece of art.

Your assignment for this week will be to draw a picture of your favorite character. It can be any character of your choice....Example, superhero, cartoon, comic book, novels, Disney....

Your picture/poster must have well drawn details and features. Show your character in its element....meaning how or what your character would be doing or who it would be with. Draw so that your character fills the majority of the page...so I can tell who the main character is of your drawing. Drawings must be colored.

You can use whatever paper works best for you.
Quality work!! Send me quality work! Lots of details! Make it look professional! (Take your time, and try your best).

Make sure you leave room for your first and last name and period.

Please read each site. It will help you prepare and do well with your abstract artwork project we will be doing this week.

Create a contour drawing of your shoe using the elements of line and shape.
Contour line drawing is the simplest form of linear expression. The line describes visible edges of an object. If the object/subject is carefully chosen and positioned, a contour drawing can have strength, clarity, and simplicity.
For our project, your shoe is the main focal point of the picture. Make sure you draw (with pencil) it in the center of the paper and large enough to see all the lines and details of your shoe. After drawing the shoe in pencil, outline the shoe with black marker or sharpie. The smaller lines/details should be done with a fine marker/sharpie. THE SHOE NEEDS TO STAY WHITE! DO NOT COLOR IT IN!
The background should be colored with bright/dark colors...in order to have your shoe stand-out (contrast) from the background. Use different designs and shapes for your background...be creative. Simply shading/coloring in the background will not be accepted.

When you are ready to submit your work....take a picture of your shoe and submit it along with your artwork.

Essential workers are those people who have been out there working to keep our country safe. They have been the ones in the hospitals helping those who are sick. They have been the ones fighting the fires to keep us safe from fire danger. They have been the ones out on the streets keeping us safe from law breakers. They have been the ones keeping kids educated so that they can have a brighter future. They are the ones we need to keep our country safe. They are the ones we need to keep our country going/productive. They are the ones who are there when we are in NEED.

You are to come up with a way of saying thank you to our essential workers. That could be by: a drawing, video, song, poem....any kind of art form.
Be creative. Put a lot of effort into your work so that our essential workers can see and feel your gratitude. We want to make them feel appreciated.

Pick a person, place or thing that you feel represents Hispanic Heritage. Create an essay, piece of artwork or a song that shows why you picked this person, place or thing. How has it inspired you and the Hispanic Heritage/Culture? Be creative with your work. Make your work standout amongst the rest.
If you are going to enter the art contest, make sure you use 1 of the 3 prompts.

Create a mural displaying the culture/ethnicity that represent you. If you are part of more than one culture/ethnicity, do them all. Be creative on how you will show us your culture/ethnicity. Do some research.

Make sure your first name is done in bubble/block or any type of letter in which you can color in...or draw a design into it. Make sure to outline ONLY YOUR NAME with black marker or sharpie. Remember, your name needs to stand out. It should be in front of your mural pictures.

Your mural must be colored. Color pencils are preferred....but you can use whatever colors you like.
THIS ASSIGNMENT WILL BE WORKED ON DURING CLASS.

Remember....if you're going to do something....always put your best effort into it and take pride in your work. This is your work....make it worth everyone's time.

Free Draw -- Draw a picture that describes you. I want to get to know you through pictures. Show me who you are. What type of person you are. Your likes and dislikes. Your personality. I want to learn who you are through art....through a picture that is creative, neat and well done.
REMEMBER....no words are to be used in your art....just drawings.
Make sure you show effort and care into your work.
Make sure to color your picture using any coloring tool you prefer.
