Remember that a simile is comparing two unlike things using like or as. A metaphor is comparing two unlike things by saying one is the other.
The simile and metaphor should be comparing your name to something else. Something that it can't literally be.
For Esperanza, she said it was a muddy color.

What does your name look like, sound like, smell like, feel like, remind you of etc?

Your statements should be in some way describing you, what you like, your identity, your beliefs, your values, what is important to you etc. It should be all about who you are!
