Rivera Middle School Art Class bridges the gap between elementary and high school. Its function is to continue to develop the students' creative abilities, instill an enthusiasm and appreciation of the visual arts, and to develop the skills necessary for self-expression. Through art experiences, a student continues to build skills such as critical thinking and creative problem solving. They will also develop an understanding of the connections between art and their core academic classes. Art is a confidence building process that can provide the student with a greater self-confidence - thus greater self-esteem. Students will learn about the Elements of Art, Principles of Design, Art movements, Art history, artistic perception, and careers in the visual arts.
Congratulations, If your child received a grade of C or higher in the Intro to Art/Design class on the current Progress Report for the first semester. Your child has been given the privilege of presenting his/ her Portfolio at home, instead of attending Parent Conferences on October 26 from 1-3 PM and October 26 from 4:30-7 PM.
You are welcome to attend Parent Conference but it is not mandatory for my class, priority will be given to parents whose child is currently in danger of failing. You are also as usual always welcome to email, call, or arrange for a meeting at another time.
