Welcome Parents and Students
Room 20 - Ms. Berkovich

Rivera Middle School Art Class bridges the gap between elementary and high school.  Its function is to continue to develop the students' creative abilities, instill an enthusiasm and appreciation of the visual arts, and to develop the skills necessary for self-expression.  Through art experiences, a student continues to build skills such as critical thinking and creative problem solving.  They will also develop an understanding of the connections between art and their core academic classes.  Art is a confidence building process that can provide the student with a greater self-confidence - thus greater self-esteem. Students will learn about the Elements of Art, Principles of Design, Art movements, Art history, artistic perception, and careers in the visual arts.

Ms. Berkovich has been with the district for 10 years now. She started at El Rancho high school teaching Digital Imaging for 5 years and is now here at Rivera Middle School teaching Art. Ms. Berkovich graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Graphic Design. She later earned her Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art from California State University, Los Angeles.
