Language Arts (Period 6) Assignments

Extra Credit opportunity - you may submit any of your 3 novels for extra credit.  Books must be turned in tomorrow after class and have your name on them.

Last opportunity to make up any of the last chapter quizzes for Boy in The Striped Pajamas will be on Thursday, May 17 from 3-4pm.

Argumentative essay is due on Monday 4/9 at the beginning of class.  Make sure the rough draft is stapled to the back of the printed essay you will turn in.   Also the essay must be submitted on Google Classroom on 4/8 by 11:59 pm.

 

 

Study for your final exam on Roll of Thunder.  Don't forget to review the characters and notes on the novel.

Monday is your test on the vocabulary for the Civil War.  Make sure to review your timeline, notes and vocabulary list.  As a reminder you need to know how to spell the words as well as the definitions.

Welcome back to a new school year!  As we start off the semester, just a reminder that you need to have the following items with you on a daily basis.

 

Binder with dividers and loose leaf paper

Colored pens - assorted colors besides black

Highlighters - at least 5 different colors

Earbuds

 

Make sure you have these in class by  Tuesday 1/16.

 

 

Gift must be turned in to Mrs. Valenzuela by 3 pm on Monday 12/11 as I will be delivering them immediately after school.

Finish your assignment on Readworks.org as was explained to you today.  Make sure its submitted on Saturday so when I run my reports on Sunday all your answers are there.

 

If you failed the Clay Marble Vocabulary Test and have an "F" you may come in on Friday 12/8 to retake the test for an AVERAGED grade.  Must be in class by 3:05 as we need to leave by 3:50pm.

Test on Monday 12/4 on Figurative Language.  Study over the weekend.

Your autobiography is due on Wed. Sept 27 at the beginning of class.  You need to submit it on Google classroom by midnight on the 26.  You will need a printed copy of your autobiography in class on Wednesday.  

 

If you do not have access to a computer or printer at home and do not finish typing in class after 3  full class periods, I will be available after school from 3for you to finish typing the autobiography and the library will be open until 4 pm so that you can print your paper.  This is in efforts to remove all obstacles that can prevent you from meeting the deadline.

Final weekend to study for your Vocabulary test.  It will be on Monday, Sept. 11.  Remember you must know both the spelling and definitions for each word.

Write Paragraph 3 of your autobiography:  Hobbies and Sports- describe your hobbies and interest.  Include Sports you play and other activities in which you participate.

Write Paragraph 2 of your autobiography.   This paragraph will be about your family.

 

Tell me a bit about your family.  You may included extended family as well if they live with you.   Don't forget your siblings.   Lastly describe one incident or experience you have shared with your family or family member.

In paragraph 1 you should introduce yourself, your age and birthdate.  Tell me the places you have lived and how long you have lived in Pico Rivera.  Also tell me about the schools you attended before coming to Rivera Middle.  

 Metaphor collage final copy due today.

 Complete your Metaphor sketch we started in class.  Don't forget that your biggest images is the one that most represents you, and the other nine symbols ( metaphors) will go inside the object.

 

You only need to sketch this.  We will finish it tomorrow and add more things to it.

 Complete the list of 30 adjectives about yourself if you did not finish it in class today.
